Our mission is to provide information and educate homeowners in the mountain areas of San Diego on native and non-native plants used to replenish vegetation lost from drought, oak and pine beetles and fires.

Homeowners in the mountain areas must address many challenges in order to grow plants successfully on their properties. The plants they purchase need to be cold hardy, able to withstand strong Santa Ana winds and preferably be drought tolerant and fire resistant.

The nursery's owner, Lori, has a Bachelor of Science degree in Ornamental Horticulture from Cal Poly at Pomona. She is an ISA certified Arborist and has been working in the field of horticulture since 1979.

Lori has worked in retail and wholesale nurseries, landscape architecture firms, with landscape contractors, the National Forest Service in reforestation, utility vegetation management, interior plantscaping and did an internship with the San Diego Zoo.
